The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has now been in force for a while (May 2018).
Thanks to the recent appointment of our data protection representative, we have recently written and delivered in-house training sessions. We ensure it’s relevant, interesting and meaningful for our Troops.
By the end of next week, all of our office teams will have received the training. So great but what about Brexit? Why pick up on GDPR so close to the 31st October?
Well, despite Brexit, GDPR has an effect outside the UK territory so non EU countries are also affected.
We will still need to comply, now, until 31st October and will do after Brexit where we continue to do business with the EU.
And let’s not forget the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) which will obviously remain. The law applies to any ‘processing of personal data’, and will catch all businesses whatever their size or industry.
Relevant training on personal data processing has been identified as a key issue for Clarion and we will certainly to continue to keep our teams up to date!
