Our client is a leading global hygiene and forest products company that develops and produces sustainable personal care, tissue, and timber products. The company is Europe’s largest supplier of hygiene products, with offices and warehouses all over the globe.
Their facility in the North West operates over 500,000 square foot and is the 2nd largest production unit in Europe. The company is committed to innovative programmes that encompass production and work processes, with the aim of achieving a more efficient and resource-efficient operation.
Prior to Clarion’s involvement, the client had a CCTV system in place that monitored their machinery and production lines. The CCTV needed to assist with the day to day running of the facility, but the age of the system meant that the images being produced were almost unusable, they were blurred and pixelated and therefore provided no real advantage for the facility. The system was extremely dated and was using low-resolution Analogue CCTV and was therefore in urgent need of an upgrade. The CCTV system also lacked versatility and usability for the production line staff. This was taking up large amounts of staff time and resources, leading to an overall lower productivity report.
The client commissioned Clarion Security Systems as its project partner, with the responsibility to design, install and commission a full HD IP CCTV solution.
Following meticulous project planning and intelligent system design from Clarion, the facility now have a variety of Avigilon HD network cameras, located above key machinery and production line processes. The solution provided is durable, easy to use, and produces crystal clear HD images. The new system means that staff now have a whole view of the workings of each machine. The cameras selected provide the functionality for staff to quickly and easily review footage from each machine from a central position. This assists with the diagnosis of production line problems or faults, as soon as they occur.
At the heart of the CCTV solution, sits Avigilon HD micro-dome cameras. These are small, compact, durable cameras that can be fitted in restricted positions (tight spots). Having a wide-angle field of view, allows the micro-dome to be positioned such that it captures the entire feed-in area of the machine, (rollers) and packing areas. These micro-domes also cover the working processes of the automated robotic machines, allowing operators to view and review automated operations at any given time.
The bespoke system design has helped improve machinery and production line processes, whilst supporting the company’s drive-in innovation and delivering consumer value to the highest standard.
