Liverpool’s Metquarter is a luxury shopping centre consisting primarily of boutique stores located in the heart of the City.
Having suffered the consequences of an ageing analogue CCTV system for some time, Clarion was invited to design a solution that overcame issues such as: Low-quality recordings, lengthy video search times (costing the security team valuable time) and limited audit trail reports of system operation.
Important factors that needed to be considered for the shopping centre CCTV upgrade were: Maximum uptime for all cameras, as this was a live system, & limited amounts of public space working, thus reducing any potential health and safety issues and also any commercial implications on the trading tenants.
Following accurate survey and testing of the existing Fibre Optic network, significant cost savings were passed on to the client by removing the need to install new communication cables throughout the centre. This also helped us meet the criteria for limited public space working, keeping shoppers safe and traders open for business.
The Avigilon Enterprise level Control Centre software was selected as the recording and control room software for the task. Control Centre Server was deployed on multiple Network Video Recorders (NVR’s) in the field, minimising video traffic and camera bandwidth into the control room. The control room itself was upgraded with powerful viewing clients that allowed quick and accurate access to recorded video in ‘’lossless’’ quality.
In addition to the platform upgrade, the centre now benefits from High-Resolution IP camera images covering all public space areas, with the scope to upgrade all cameras in line with planned budgets.
