Our client is a leading food manufacturing company operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They produce bread and morning goods products for the nation’s favourite supermarkets. After an H&S audit, they were required to develop a new area of their site to improve and add space to the welfare area.
During initial discussions, we identified that the client required an access control system, which would allow them to:
- Have the capabilities to monitor access points to know ‘where, when, and why people are on their site at all times.
- Proactively manage site access clearances, credentials, inductions, required permits, licenses, and other competencies for cardholders.
- Automatically enforce business health and safety policies and compliance with government regulations.
- Respond rapidly with a reliable and effective emergency management system, including lockdowns and alerts to a mobile device.
- Control outputs such as lighting, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning after-hours, with a smart system managing facilities based on who is on-site.
- Utilise the latest technology and provide end-to-end encryption, giving the client the most hardened and secure network to protect from cyber-attacks, often resulting in IT and personal data breaches finable under GDPR laws.
As a Gallagher Access Control Channel Partner we knew that Gallagher Security would have the ability to handle everything that the client required, and more. We therefore supplied & installed a new enterprise-grade Gallagher access control system consisting of 10 read-in / read-out access-controlled doors. We proposed read in / readout operation to aid the client in utilising specialist features such as Anti-pass-back, fire roll call (including mobile mustering) & also advanced reporting. A new fire alarm interface was also implemented at the controller location to allow each door to unlock in the event of fire activation.
The new system also consisted of a new tower server to host the Gallagher command centre software and database, which was located within the comms room. The new tower server came loaded with a license to accept 16 doors (leaving 6 spare for future growth).
We also provided the client with 150 new latest technology access control cards (DESFire EV2 2K) smart cards, ID printing and design licenses for Gallagher command centre, so they were able to handle card printing in-house.
After the successful installation of the system and the implementation of bespoke rules or access levels the client required, we provided full user and operational training to ensure the designated system controllers were comfortable using the system fully.
The full height bi-directional security turnstile, which as part of the project, was installed at the new staff entrance. Upon completion, the new turnstile was then configured, commissioned, and tested to ensure it was fully operational and ready for client use.
As with any electronic system with numerous components, we always recommend a maintenance contract to protect the investment and to ensure the system is fully operational. The client signed up for a 3-year access control maintenance contract in order to fully maintain the system with preventative maintenance and any reactive maintenance if required.
