Our client runs a 4 bedded 24 hrs residential Care service located in Manchester. Their service delivers enhanced support for adults with learning disabilities and mental health problems who may have behaviours that challenge.
As a residential care home operating 24 hours, it is essential that patients are kept safe and access to and from the home is secure at all times. The client, therefore, required a solution that handled these requirements and turned to Clarion when looking for local CCTV systems and Access Control Systems integrator.
A Gallagher Command Centre access control system was used to control & manage secure access through the main entrance gate, which compromised a rated heavy-duty maglock release installed upon the new steel gate. An audible & visual intercom system was installed between the main entrance gate & the main entrance foyer area, which allows remote unlocking of the gate from inside the property as required.
Cabling for the gate was installed within a new steel conduit which will be installed along a brick wall to the right side of the driveway & then into a new cable ducting cut into the driveway – we handle the work with an external partner resulting in the client being able to rest assured that we were handling everything.
Also, within the foyer, we installed an emergency break-glass unit & when activated it will disengage the maglock on the door to allow staff & residents to exit the property in the event of an emergency. In the event that the break-glass is pressed a low-level bleeper will be activated to alert staff that the door is in an “unlocked state” and to go and secure the door if required to ensure patient safety.
For the CCTV system, we advised the client to use Hanwha HD cameras which comprised 13 cameras installed in both internal and external locations to maximise CCTV coverage. The 13 cameras consisted of 8 2megapixel vandal-resistant mini-dome cameras and 5.5-megapixel turret flat eye cameras which allowed the client unrivaled footage across the entire site giving them the peace of mind that patient security and safety were being taken care off.
The system has greatly improved the monitoring of staff and patients around the building, which is a great relief to the client. The access control system has also given them the peace of mind that only authorised personal are able to enter and exit the building, and therefore patients remain safe within the site.
