Our customer owns a business park in Manchester and required an automatic barrier to secure the site. They approached Clarion in May 2018 in order to find a solution.
After the customer contacted Clarion, we scheduled a free site survey during which we reviewed a variety of options with the client and gained full understand of their requirements. We then provided a cost as well as a number of optional extras to ensure that the system met all of their requirements. Following the acceptance of our quote, we set an installation date that was convenient for the client and would cause the least amount of inconvenience for tenants.
We installed a Maxima Ultima 35 automatic vehicle barrier with a 5-metre barrier boom arm, allowing for up to 10,000 operations per day. The barrier arm includes built-in LED strip illumination that can be adjusted for manual raising in the case of a total power failure without the need of override keys, saving the customer a call-out cost. The barrier contains a “slow down on closing” feature as well as built-in obstacle recognition; additionally, a cabinet safety switch stops the barrier’s operation if the cabinet door is opened, eliminating possible trapping. Finally, it includes a pedestrian safety photo beam system.

In addition to the barrier, we offered a variety of extra alternatives to improve the convenience of use for all users. This included a proximity card reader on the intercom post to allow easy entry for verified individuals, a long range remote clicker (50 metre range) which opened the barrier, and third visitors can gain entry to the site via a new audible intercom unit, where visitors shall select a tenant on the call station, which in turn shall call the tenant on their landline telephone (or mobile if required), where access may be granted by pressing a preprogrammed button.
We recommend clients take out a comprehensive maintenance contract to protect their system and ensure that their investment continues to work for years to come. Our client understood the need to protect their investment and will receive the following:
- 1 x Preventative maintenance visit per annum.
- Telephone support to assist with minor training issues and basic problem-solving.
- Speedy priority service to ensure swift attendance.
- Temporary loan equipment (when available) whilst faulty equipment is being assessed.
- A remote diagnostic service (where technically feasible) allows a remote reset of the system.
