For over 30 years, our client has played a major role in the UK waste industry and is now a leading supplier of commercial waste & recycling containers across Europe. They approached Clarion in March 2021 to help secure their new warehouse in Liverpool.
A warehouse provides many opportunities for criminality, therefore it is imperative that a security system is put in place to mitigate these risks and look to protect assets and people on-site.
Our client approached Clarion in order to supply, install and commission a new high-definition internet protocol (IP) enterprise-grade Avigilon CCTV System, as well as a Grade 2 Intruder Alarm as per their insurance requirements.
The new CCTV system consisted of a 6 terabyte network video recorder (NVR) to allow the client to store video footage, view live footage and review older footage when required. The system was set to keep 31 days of recordings if older footage was required.
We installed 8 (2.0 to 5.0 megapixel) IP cameras around the interior and exterior of the site in order to provide a full range of CCTV coverage. Each camera was set to record via motion detection, which saves storage space, at 13 frames per second (FPS) resulting in high-quality footage for the client.
As part of this project, we also installed a PC with a 24-inch monitor for local viewing and configuration of the system when required within the client’s comms room. Full user and operational training was also provided upon completion so that the client’s team could easily operate the system going forward.
As with all Clarion CCTV installations, and as an NSI Gold Installer, the equipment was fitted in line with the requirements of NCP104. An NSI Gold Certificate was issued after completion of the works.
The client also required a graded intruder alarm and we installed a Honeywell galaxy alarm to secure the warehouse outside of normal working hours. The intruder system contained door contacts, movement sensors and passive infrared sensors (PIR) to detect heat changes in the space being monitored. This gave them the peace of mind to know that their premises are being monitored when the warehouse is empty, and if an alarm activation occurs, nominated keyholders will be notified as well as a police response if required.
As with all projects a 12-month warranty was given against all new equipment.
We recommend clients take out a comprehensive maintenance contract to protect their system and ensure that their investment continues to work for years to come. Our client understood the need to protect their investment and received the following:
- Preventative maintenance visits (2 x Intruder and 1 x CCTV per annum)
- Telephone support to assist with minor training issues and basic problem-solving.
- Speedy priority service to ensure swift attendance.
- Temporary loan equipment (when available) whilst faulty equipment is being assessed.
- A remote diagnostic service (where technically feasible) allows a remote reset of the system.
