Our customer operates a gas-powered power station in the East Midlands. In December 2021, they asked Clarion to replace their existing intercom system as they were having ongoing quality issues with it.
The customer had two gates, each with a two-way intercom that communicated with their security hut and main control room. The main issue was that the intercom’s quality was quite poor. They assumed it was due to electrical interference from other services in the same duct as the comms wires.
We identified a network connection fairly close to the gates and made use of this to achieve communication over their network, without any interference from other electrical components.
The previous Aiphone system on the gates was replaced with a 2N IP Intercom system. To facilitate communication across these systems, Grandstream handsets were installed in the main security office and control room.
We recommend clients take out a comprehensive maintenance contract to protect their system and ensure that their investment continues to work for years to come. Our client understood the need to protect their investment and will receive the following:
- 1 x Preventative maintenance visit per annum.
- Telephone support to assist with minor training issues and basic problem-solving.
- Speedy priority service to ensure swift attendance.
- Temporary loan equipment (when available) whilst faulty equipment is being assessed.
- A remote diagnostic service (where technically feasible) allows a remote reset of the system.
