Our client embarked on a large redevelopment project at one of Harrogate’s leading office buildings. They approached Clarion in February 2020 to provide an integrated security system featuring CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarm, Speed Lanes and Intercom System to cover the newly proposed building layout.
During a consultation with Clarion, it was identified that the site needed an updated integrated security solution that was intelligent, innovative, and could provide the level of security management that a modern office building, with multiple tenants, requires. The new system was required to protect the site from intruders breaking in, deter external theft, provide full-site CCTV coverage and control the flow and access of people around the building.
Avigilon was chosen for the high-definition IP CCTV system as it is a robust enterprise solution that would handle the client’s requirements fully. We installed a server-based Avigilon HD IP CCTV PC on the site to provide a powerful system that will provide greater than HD images on all new cameras.
The latest Avigilon ACC7 software was installed onto the new server with 40TB of internal storage. We installed surveillance grade hard drives as these are specially designed to operate 24/7 for years on end without overheating or failure.
14 Avigilon dome cameras were installed to the internal ground floor and basement areas, 4 Avigilon external dome cameras were installed on the external ground floor and we also replaced 13 existing PTZ cameras with 13 2 megapixel full HD IP high-speed dome cameras. This gave the client full CCTV coverage both internally and externally.
For the access control system, we installed a Honeywell WinPak access control system to provide a powerful yet simple to use system that will provide greater configuration for future expansion for all access-controlled doors.
We installed four contemporary brushed stainless finished slimline high-speed lanes on the ground floor to prevent the general public from entering the restricted office, stairwell and lift areas. Each speed lane has a proximity reader installed to both sides of the gate to allow valid users to gain entry through the gate from either direction.
We replaced the existing intercom System with a new 2N HD IP system which featured 3 audio/video surface mounted call stations and 3 HD IP audio-video desk mounted handsets
A grade 3 alarm was required, therefore we recommended and installed a Honeywell Galaxy Dimension 264 Intruder panel. This system also featured multiple panic alarm buttons situated around the building, and upon activation, the transmission of a silent alarm is sent to the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), and the ARC will then instruct the local Police force to visit the site.
We recommend clients take out a comprehensive maintenance contract to protect their system and ensure that their investment continues to work for years to come. Our client understood the need to protect their investment and received the following:
- Preventative maintenance visits per annum (1 x access control, 2 x Intruder alarm, 2 x CCTV and 1 x intercom)
- Telephone support to assist with minor training issues and basic problem-solving.
- Speedy priority service to ensure swift attendance.
- Temporary loan equipment (when available) whilst faulty equipment is being assessed.
- A remote diagnostic service (where technically feasible) allows a remote reset of the system.
